The Management Team

One of our greatest strengths at Berwick Retirement Communities is our senior management team has been together for 20 years. Owners Gordon and Chris Denford work closely as part of the team at head office everyday to carry out their vision of offering seniors “the best possible quality of life, in the nicest possible surroundings”.

Gordon Denford, President & CEO, has been building homes in Western Canada for over 40 years. In the mid 1980’s Mr. Denford wanted to create a residence that was specifically designed for seniors. Such a residence had to offer more than just shelter; it had to incorporate state of the art communication systems within a purpose-built building. It also had to offer a full range of amenities and services within a community setting. Above all, such a residence should be a “step up” and make its residents proud to call it their home. His experience, research and discussion with seniors groups and leading local consultants, led to the creation of Berwick House, Victoria in 1989.

Christopher Denford, Vice-President of Development, works with our architectural team in the design of each Berwick. Mr. Denford has 20 years of residential development experience, extensive knowledge of seniors’ housing requirements, as well as a keen eye for aesthetic details. This combination enables him to assist in the design and development of award winning independent living residences “he would be happy to live in himself”.

William Bomhof, Vice-President Construction, has led the team that built all of the Berwick Residences. He has over 30 years of construction and project management experience. Mr. Bomhof's stays on the cutting edge of the industry, ensuring each Berwick is built to exacting standards utilizing the best skilled workers, sub-trades and suppliers in every community.

Patricia Towne, Vice-President of Administration, brings over 25 years of seniors’ health care expertise. Her experience includes an extensive nursing background, consulting on a number of projects, as well as being the administrator of our first Berwick for over 10 years. When it comes to the care of seniors, she is a leader in her field of supportive housing for seniors. Totally committed to providing a dignified, safe and caring environment, and holding each Berwick to the highest standard.
